extraordinary texas women

The Texas women in these pages have made history in a variety of ways—some outrageous, some inventive, most courageous. They have been crusaders, sports stars, outlaws, entrepreneurs and business leaders, ranchers and cowgirls, philanthropists, artists—and often, characters. They lived outside convention and caught public attention to one degree or another. For some, their greatest accomplishments and most unusual adventures came after they left Texas, but they are still bound to and influenced by a Texas heritage.

They're here on these pages—the women you know about, from
Emily Morgan (the supposed Yellow Rose of Texas) to Ann
Richards and Lady Bird Johnson. But there are also some you may
not know, like Pamelia Mann, who stood up to Sam Houston, and
Ninnie Baird who started a chain of bakeries by first selling her
homemade bread to neighbors.
wine roads of texas book

The Wine Roads of Texas is the premier guide to wines made in the nation's fifth-largest wine producing state. It is the inspiration for the three-part PBS series with the same name.  The book includes: * Maps and directions to 82 Texas wineries, plus the dramatic stories of their origins, survival and growth.
* Where to find food, shelter and fun on 22 wine trips through Texas.
* Picks of the best Texas wines.
* Tips on how to taste wine.
Wine tours are grouped into six regions: Big Bend, Panhandle Plains, Hill Country (six trips), Prairies and Lakes North (three trips) and South, Gulf Coast and Piney Woods, with food, shelter and fun listings for each. To background on each winery is added a description of wines produced and the author’s pick of the best.
The Wine Roads of Texas is the perfect book for experienced wine experts and novice wine lovers. It is the ideal guide for anyone wishing to learn more about one of the state’s most remarkable agricultural elements

hog wild on a harley cookbook Harley-Davidson riders are a close-knit community that loves good food. The official motto of Harley riders may be “Live to Ride, Ride to Live,” but the unofficial motto is “Eat to Ride, Ride to Eat.” To help celebrate the 100th anniversary of Harley-Davidson in 2003, Bill Hufnagle, aka Biker Billy, collected 200 righteous recipes from HOG (Harley Owners Group) members and other Harley enthusiasts from sea to shining sea whose close-second passion is a fantastic, stick-to-your-ribs meal with no holds barred. There are plenty of Billy’s own favorites included, too. Here and only here are recipes for Nana’s Famous Horseradish Cheese Spread, Grandpa’s Oil Can Stew, Penne with Crankcase Vodka Sauce, Black Leather Tostadas, and John’s Prison Break Cake. This is torqued-up-tasty food from a bunch of adventure-loving riders that’s certain to appeal to the more than five million Harley riders across the U.S.A.

Leaving Riverton pattern book...this is the first pattern book from the Mailly Series each containing a novel, pattern book and fabric collection. Even if you don't read novels, you can still enjoy the unique patterns in this book. The two favorite patterns in this book are:

* Liz's Gift (circle wedding ring look from Jodi's grandmother that she called Bridal Vale Wreath). You only need seven squares and two diamond units from the Square in a Square technique to create this stunning block with 71 pieces.

* Southern Skies-this quilt that Liz makes for her grandfather. The beautiful block contains a 54-40 or fight star in the center with flying geese surrounding it. In this quilt, you will learn Option 3 flying geese and Option 18 (Canadian geese) for the long star points.
